Photos from Fort De Soto - December 2025
We had booked camping spots last year for a week, however Hurricane Helene wiped out the park along with all the electricity pedestals that we plug our vans into.
This Pinellas County park is spread over 900 acres on five interconnected islands with seven miles of waterfront, including three miles of the most scenic beaches in Florida. It is a 4 hour drive from Dania Beach.
The park has a 6.3-mile paved bicycle trail, nature trails, two fishing piers and the ruins of the park’s namesake fort, which was built during the Spanish-American War.
The weather was perfect with average temps in the mid-seventies and lots of sun.

January 19 2022 - Blue Springs State Park, FL
Finally found a camping spot for a couple of nights. Our campsite was just a short walk to the river. Visitors to the park were lined up for more than an hour to get into the park.
It was cold with temps in the 40's at night. That's why a
new record was set for the number of manatees coming into the St. John's river.
Despite the large gathering, Florida's manatees are still in grave danger. At least 1,003 manatees—more than 10% of the state's estimated population—died from starvation in 2021 alone.
